Ahh the Olympics. Such a fun time.
Back in 1972, good old Olga Korbut managed to pull off an amazing gymnastics backflip from the uneven bars. She was awarded a 9.8, which according to the video isn’t very good. Eventually the move was outlawed (you’re not allowed to stand on the bar anymore).
I’m not one to stick my nose into Gymnastic politics, but seriously? That flip was *incredible*. Maybe they don’t want dozens of 10-year-olds to emulate Olga to their peril. Regardless, it looks like we won’t be seeing any backflips in the near future.
