Gamecocks Take the Field for Spring Practice

Today marked the start of a new year for the University of South Carolina football team. The Gamecocks took the field early this afternoon under cloudy skies and lingering storms. Sporting simply the Gamecock helmet, jersey, and shorts the players brought a true air of excitement to the corner of Bluff and National Guard roads. Here’s a few of the observations that we saw on the first day of spring practice.

New Defensive Line Coach a Nice Fit

It may be too early to tell if Deke Adams is actually the right guy for the job, but after what we saw today it’s tough to argue that he’s not. Coach Adams brought great intensity and enthusiasm in his first on-field encounter with the Gamecock defensive line. Not only was he constantly working to improve technique, but each player responded positively. Whether he was offering praise or critiquing somenone’s form, the players accepted what he had to say and made the appropriate adjustments. Coach Deke Adams seems to be an excellent addition to the South Carolina coaching staff.
