Rumor: DJ Swearinger suspended for first half of Mizzou

According to unconfirmed sources, D.J. Swearinger has been suspended from the first half of the Missouri-USC game for his helmet to helmet collision with UAB’s receiver Patrick Hearn.

Even though this hit looks similar to something you would see pretty regularly in college football, helmet-to-helmet collisions can cause serious injury and the NCAA is cracking down on launching into unprotected players. Unfortunately, losing Swearinger for a half against our first real opponent will hurt a secondary that is already weak.

We are waiting for an official announcement from the University.

Update at 12:53pmSBNation has confirmed that the SEC has suspended DJ Swearinger for the entire game against Mizzou.

I think this is simply just a rumor. None of the “professional” journalism sites for USC athletics (who have real sources within the program) are reporting this rumor and when watching the video it would make absolutely no sense.

You sir are the problem with the media report anything say it’s not confirmed if it’s not true no big deal you got your hits if it’s true you say see I told ya. He knocked the player down not out big difference. The announcers make this sound like he took the guys head off. The hit Justice took in the Vandy game didn’t get punishment handed down be consistent SEC. This is garbage. This will be the last time I ever link to this page. Unconfirmed source LOL.
